Premier League Preview 2024

The 17-week roadshow that is the Premier League gets underway on Thursday in Cardiff, and ends at the O2 London on 23rd May. But this year, the darting world will see something different. No more dancing Dimitri, Masters champion Chris Dobey, or PDC stalwart, Jonny Clayton.

The final on January 3rd saw Sky TV’s biggest ever darting audience watch the two Lukes produce a very memorable end to the world championship. After his run at the world championships, it was obvious that Littler would be getting one of the elusive Premier league places – rightly so. He’s clearly one of the best 8 players in the world. This year we also see a well-deserved return for Rob Cross who has previously been omitted in spite of great performances, including major wins.

Time and time again, seasoned professionals describe the Premier League as a real slog, saying how draining it is. It will certainly be interesting to see how Humphries and Littler cope with it – debutants have a notoriously poor record at the Premier League. Hopefully the two of them, and particularly Littler will not constantly have cameras and interviewers in front of them and are simply allowed to play darts because right now, it’s clear those are two of the best players in the world and there have been great platers in the past who have struggled massively with the unforgiving format.

Tomorrow, expect a form-guide for the Premier League as well as our tips for it.

That’s all for today,
